Plumtree Stud Newsleter May 2017 - 4 more beautiful foals born!

Foaling wise it was a slow start to May, although Plumtree Joyce (aka Aussie), a first time foaler, kept us on our toes! She liked to play the "I'm going to be really restless and act like I'm going to foal until 3am in the morning and then just go to sleep!" So most nights we were up half the night watching Aussie on the cameras and then setting alarms to check on her through the night. Maiden mares have a knack of trying to catch you out so we were keeping a very close eye on her!

If you read our April blog (which you can read by clicking HERE) or are a "Liker" of our Facebook Page you will know that at the end of April we had a very busy night with 4 foals born within 4 hours of each other! But it had being too rainy to let them out in the paddock the following day so their photos had been taken in the stable. Well a few days later when the wether was much better I got a few photos of them out in the biggest paddock at home (the nursary paddock was out of use for maintenance!)

Here is Plumtree Shelby, dun & white filly foal. Also pictured with her very foal proud dam, Plumtree Honey-Suckle, our blue dun & white mare!

Our bay dun and white filly foal, with the gorgeous heart shaped face marking, Plumtree Venus

And last but by no means least, Plumtree Mustang, palomino colt foal.

    While out taking those photos I also snapped a few of our older foals;

Plumtree Charger, our Palomino & White colt, almost a month old and taking after his brothers and sisters, turning into a right little show man! Crystal, Chargers Dam, always puts a good stamp on her foals,

Plumtree Denzel growing into a little show man too... we just love his markings!

And finally Plumtree Gatsby, one  of our palomino colt foals had also been practicing his posing!

It had seemed like forever since Venus, Mustang and Shelby had been born, but on the 21st the wait was finally over and it happened again... we had 2 foals born within 2 hours of each other! And they are both mine! (Jodie)

Now my little mare Plumtree Tasmin normally has a huge bag weeks before foaling, and 2 weeks before she foaled she had no bag at all! I was starting to wonder if she was even in foal! Then a week before she foaled she developed a tiny little bag, so I though she was going to go to her next due date in June. Then out of no where, literally over night 2 days before she foaled her bag grew HUGE! The following day I checked it at 7pm and it had gone hard, by midnight we had wax and me & Mum thought... its going to be tonight. So we came in the house so everything was nice and quiet and watched her on the camera. And we watched, and watched, and watched... by 5am still nothing! So Mum sent me up to bed so at least one of us would get some sleep and she was going to wake me up if she started. I got up at 9am the next morning... still nothing! So we popped Tasmin & Aussie in the nursary paddock and got the mucking out etc done and then I sent Mum to bed for a few hours. It was a gorgeous day so I got the camping chairs out and sat on the garden watching Tasmin, who was very restless until 3pm when I decided to make a bacon butty... but before I came in I hoped over the field fence to check her over and thought I may as well check Aussie too and she had waxed up as well! Luckily, I can see their paddock from the kitchen window too! We decided to bring the ponies in a little earlier than usual that night, and again came inside and watched them both on the camera until finally... at 10.55pm Tasmin gave birth to a very strong, chunky, blue dun & white colt foal...

    Introducing Plumtree Thunder!

    Thunder is by Plumtree Hideaway.

Aussie was in the pen right next to Tasmin, so while we waited to make sure Thunder got up and sucking, etc we could still keep a close eye on Aussie... and not to be out done, at 12.30am Aussie (Plumtree Joyce) gave birth to a gorgeous, tiny, bay dun and white colt foal! First time Mum's are always a worry, but she bonded with him right away! So...

    Introducing Plumtree Jax!

Jax is by Merrylees Camelot... and is a proper little mini me of Mum Aussie! but with Dad's white nose!

Both photos were taken the next morning when the boys were around 12 hours old.

We didn't have as long to wait for our next arival... 2 days later, on 22nd of May our lovely mare Jewel gave birth to a beautiful little piebald colt foal! Jewel was another first time Mother, and gave us no warning what so ever that she was going to give birth that night... but as alway we were watching the cameras and went out to the barn as soon as she went down...

    Introducing Plumtree Jenson!

Jenson was born at 11.30pm, Jewel took to him right away too so the worry of the first time Mum's was over! Jeson is also by Merrylees Camelot and was named by my boyfriend Mat... the name certainly suits him, he spent most of his first day speeding round the paddock! Photo taken at 18 hours old.

And last... but by no means least! At 4.30am on the 29t, our gorgeous mare Jenny (Aussie's dam) gave birth to a stunning, tiny, little tri-colour filly....

    Introducing Plumtree Jolie!

Jolie is also by Camelot... who must have been a very busy boy last June! Due to none stop rain (again!) Jolie spent her first day nice and cosy in her dry stable so the photo was taken at 1 day old!

Phew! What a week!!! Luckily we don't have any more foals due until the 9th of July now... so we are both looking foward to catching up on some much needed sleep!

Plumtree Stud Newsletter - April 2017, what a month! Our first 6 2017 foals have arrived.

If you are a regular reader of our blog you will know that last year I wrote a blog for every foal born and updated it with new photos every few weeks. This was very time consuming, especially when we are living on very little sleep and taking care of our babies so this year I am going to do things a little differently! At the end of each month I am going to write a "Newsletter" blog, which will include all new arrivals and updated photos of our foals!

For those that didn't read our previous blog, our first foal of 2017 arrived on the 4th of April! A gorgeous, chunky palomino and white colt we named Plumtree Charger! To see the blog about his arrival into this world please click HERE

Well by 4 days old he was certainly living up to his name & flying around the nursery paddock!

I always feel a little bit sorry for the first foal, because once they get to a week old they start to want a playmate. Charger had to wait until he was 9 days old to get one of those...

.. Introducing Plumtree Denzel, a beautifully marked piebald colt born at 3.25am on 13th April. His Mum, Plumtree Polka-Dot gave us a bit of a scare, presenting us with a red bag delivery but we got him out quickly & he is doing great. This photograph was taken at one day old, as I was so tired the day he was born! We have decided not to cover Dot for 2018, although she loves being a Mum we think its time for a well-deserved break.

Denzel's sire is our palomino stallion Brandeston Rupert, pictured on our STALLION PAGE. His Dam, Dot, our show champion mare, pictured below.

And here is Denzel at 8 days old!

    Introducing Plumtree Gatsby!

On 23rd of April at 12.30am Golden Lilly gave birth to this gorgeous little palomino colt. Everything went great for Mum and baby. Here he is at 11 hours old with his Dam, Harlequin Golden Lilly (Out of Plumtree Tiger-lily).

His sire is also Brandeston Rupert.

While taking Gatsby's first portrait I also snapped this of Charger having a play with Denzel in the background seriously considering joining in!

We didn't have to wait long for another... make that 3 more foals! Which brings me onto a very busy night here at Plumtree! 3 foals born in less than 4 hours!

At 10.15pm on the 26th of April our beautiful Dilston Vienna gave birth to a gorgeous little dun & white filly foal. Her first foal! We were over the moon and she has been a very protective and caring Mum from the start. And we knew that wouldn't be the last that night as before we came back in the house after making sure Mum & baby were doing ok we check the other mares and 2 more were waxed up! Sure enough at 1.37am Littlewitty Ellie gave birth to a gorgeous palomino colt foal and not to be out done at 1.39am Plumtree Honey-Suckle (Vienna's best friend) gave birth to a beautiful cream & white filly foal! Who is also our first foal by ou gorgeous stallion Merrylee's Camelot!

So introducing... Plumtree Venus by Plumtree Hideaway

    Plumtree Mustang by Brandeston Rupert

and last, but by no means least, Plumtree Shelby! By Merrylees Camelot.

All 3 spent today nice and cosy in their stables as the weather forecast was horrible so more photos to follow.

What a month! But we atleast were able to get a little more sleep for the last couple of days of April.

Our first foal of the 2017 season has arrived! Introducing Plumtree Charger...

Spring time always brings with it the excitment of our foals arriving, and March felt like a very very long month. But we are pleased to announce that in the early hours of this morning, at 12.20am, Crystal gave birth to a beautiful palomino and white colt foal. Charger was not due until the 16th of April so arrived 12 days early! But he's doing really well. Pictured above at just 11 hours old!

He is a strong lad and wasted no time in getting up and stampeding around his stable. With this in mind I wanted a strong, manly name for him, and have decided to name him Charger, after the american muscle car the Dodge Charger! (Pictured below is a replica of the Charger from the Dukes of Hazzard)

His Dam is Merryhill Crystal, pictured below in 2016

And his sire is our gorgeous boy, Brandeston Rupert

    Welcome back Plumtree Tigerella!

Today we welcomed Plumtree Tigerella, aka Tigger, back to Plumtree! We are thrilled to have this beautiful yearling filly back at our stud.

Very sadly and unexpectedly, we lost her gorgeous Dam, Plumtree Tigerlilly earlier this year. We were absolutely devistated to say the least. Luckily for us, Tigger had gone to Lynne & Terry Day at Wildsworth Stud as a weaned foal, and they very, very kindly offered to let us have Tigger back.

Tigger is so much like her Mum,  Tigerlilly, pictured below, summer 2012.

Not only was Tigerlilly a gorgeous mare, she was a fabulous Mum. The photographs below are her with Tigger, at just a couple of days old.

In June this year Lynne and Terry asked Jodie if she would like to show Tigger for them at Lincoln County Show. We were delighted as Tigger came 1st in the yearling class.

Tigger arrived back at our stud today, where she has joined her half sisters Golden Lily, Irrisistable and Ellie May. We think she remembers us... she has settled right in! Thank you both Lynne and Terry for letting us have this lovely litte filly back!

His dam, Plumtree Bubblegum is a beautful dun. The photo below was taken 4 days before Bullet's arrival.

And his sire is our 31.5" dun & white stallion Plumtree Hideaway. Bullet is our 2nd foal by him.

    Introducing Plumtree Luna...

Plumtree Luna is a very elegant palomino filly foal. She was born at 10.50pm on 9th May. Here she is at 2 days old (As mentioned in Star's blog the weather wasn't godd for photos for a few days). If Lorraine's memory is correct, Luna is the first palomino filly we have had from Golden Lily, and she has some lovely facemarkings, a blaze and a star, as you can see in the bottom photo.

Her dam is our beautiful Harlequin Golden Lily, out of our beloved Plumtree Tigerlilly. Here's a photo of Golden Lily taken early spring 2015, so please excuse her coat as she was shedding her winter coat at the time!

Her sire is our handsome Brandeston Rupert. This Photo was taken in May this year, trust Rupert to find the longest patch of grass in the field!

    UPDATE 29.05.16

A more recent photograph of this little beauty, or what you can see of her!

Introducing our first foal of 2016, Plumtree Pegasus

It seems as though we have been waiting forever but at approx 12.40am on Sunday the 17th of April 2016 Plumtree Polka-Dot gave birth to a beautiful Palamino colt we have named Plumtree Pegasus. At around 12.35am we were watching our foaling cameras and noticed Dot lay down and have her first push, so we got our boots and coats on and headed straight down the yard to the barn. Dot foaled 10 days early and Pegasus' birth was not straight forward. It was the dreaded red bag presentation, but due to Lorraine's quick actitions she split the red bag and pulled Pegasus out  and we are happy to report both Mother and Baby are doing well.

The video and photographs on this blog were taken when he was only 11 hours old! Luckily the weather was fine and sunny on Sunday, so he didn't have to wait long to stretch his legs in the nursary paddock.

The sun was a little too bright for 'good' photography, but I did take a couple of snapshots. I couldn't help myself!

Pegasus' Dam, Plumtree Pokla-Dot. Photograph taken April 2015.

For more information on Dot please see our earlier blog by clicking HERE

And his Sire, Brandeston Rupert. Photograph taken March 2016.

    UPDATE 20.04.16

Pegasus is now 3 days old doing well. Below are a couple of photographs taken last night.

    UPDATE 24.04.16

Pegasus on his 1 week birthday! His personality is really coming out now, and he's so friendly! He was on my knee in the paddock this morning.

    "Theres something tickling my lip!"

    UPDATE 29.05.16

Pegasus is now 6 weeks old and has a huge personality, always first to come say hello when we walk into his field. The sun popped out just as I took this photo of him!
