Our last foal for 2017 has arrived!

Our 2017 foaling season has come to an end arrival of a beautiful, minimally marked dun & white colt foal born at 12.30am on 4th of July...

    Introducing Plumtee Django!

Photos at just 12 hours old

Django is out of Plumtree Dottie and by Plumtree Hideaway. Funily enough their 2016 filly foal was the last foal to be born in 2016 too! He arrived a little early too... due on the 21st of July but Dottie gave us all the signs she was about to foal, which is what we like! The birth went well and although he had a little trouble getting into the right position to suck, after a little guidance from Lorraine all was well. Mum and baby are doing great!

Django has the most beautiful little head, as all Dottie's foals do and we just love his markings. Django will be our last foal by Plumtree Hideaway as he is now at a stud in Germany! We had absolutely no intention of keeping any foals this year (apart from Dainty's) and certainly no more colts! But Lorraine fell in love with Django almost instantly and we will be running him on.

Below are some photos of him at 1 week old...

Plumtree Stud Newsletter June 2017 - 3 Early Arrivals! So much for our month off foaling!

If you read our May blog (which can be found HERE) you will know Plumtree Jolie. who was born on 30th May was the last foal we were expecting until the 9th of July and Lorraine & I were looking forward to catching up on some sleep... but our mares had other ideas!

I can honestly say we have never had a year with so many early arrivals!

    Introducing Plumtree Dakota!

(Photo taken at 2 hours old)

What a lovely surprise we had at 12.50pm, 9th of June when our lovely mare Darwin Dainty gave birth to a beautiful palomino filly foal out in the paddock. Plumtree Dakota was 30 DAYS early! (Due 9th of July!) and our date was very acriate because Dainty had only spent 1 week with one of our stallions last year. Luckily, because Dainty's bag was so big, and she had been resting more than usual the couple of days before, we had been keeping a close eye on her and Mum (Lorraine) saw her go down in the paddock so we were there for the birth! Dakota did give us a little scare so we had the vet to check her over and all was well. Dainty's foal was still born last year so we are delighted she has a baby to love this time. Dakota will be staying with us at Plumtree as Dainty will now be retired from breeding after giving us some fabulous foals.

    Dakota is by Brandeston Rupert.

We only had to wait another 10 days for our next new arrival. Also due on the 9th of July...

    Introducing Plumtree Jazmini!

(Photo taken at 5 days old)

This beautiful Cremello filly born was born at 10.15pm on 19th of June. 20 days early, although its is not the first time her Dam, Pixbrooke Jazmine, has foaled early. We were just brining the ponies in for the night, I was at one end of the yard and Mum was at the other when we both spotted Jazmine digging up in the corner. I was actually about to bring one of our stallions in and he looked most confused when I shut the gate and ran across the yard without him!

Everything went well with the birth and once Jazmini had had a bit of bonding time with her Mum and found her feet we moved her to her stable. Jazmini also gave us a little scare as she couldn't get the hang of latching onto Mum, so all through the night we milked Mum and fed her baby with a shringe. Finally at 8am the next morning she got the hang of it and nursed, The vet came to check her over and her IGG test came back with excellent results.

As mentioned above, Jazmine had foaled early in 2016 too when her gorgeous 2016 Palomino filly foal, Plumtree Juno, arrived 34 days early! You can read about Juno HERE.

Jazmini is also by our gorgeous stallion Brandeston Rupert and was our last foal due to him for 2017.

Our next early arrival was also totally unexpected, his Dam, Plumtree Bubblegum, has never foaled early before! As sual her bag was quite big, and she had been egar to get into her stable for the couple of night before, which is unusual for her. Lorraine seems to have a sixth sense for foaling because she had just put the camera on to check the ponies when Bubblegum went down to foal!

    Introducing Plumtree Bono!

(Photos taken at 12 hours old)

A gorgeous, tiny dun & white colt foal born at 10.55pm on 30th of June... 28 DAYS EARLY!! Bono was supposed to be our last foal due in 2017, expected on 28th of July. He is by Plumtree Hideaway.

So what a month! 3 early foals but luckily all 3 are thriving! We now just have 1 more foal due in 2017...

End of year round up 2016 - Competition win, new arrivals and foals leaving for their new homes!

Hi, Jodie here. Its been quite a while since I wrote a blog so I thought I would do a little end of year round up and let you all know what we got up to in the last few weeks of 2016.

First off, I had entered the SPSBS 2016 foal photo competition and was honoured to have come first in the Best Friends category with this photo of Plumtree Bonanza with Emily, taken the first time they met. They hit it off instantly. We were thrilled when Bonanza (Bo for short) was chosen by Lel Mayfield of Skyelands Shetlands. Emily is Lel's granddaughter and a part of her show team "Team Nana". We are very excited for Lel to get Bo out showing this year, unfortunately though, under showing rules, Emily is too young to take Bo in the ring because he is a colt so Lel will show him.

As a category winner the photo was printed in the Autumn/Winter Shetland Pony Stud Book Society Magazine, pictured below, as well as being featured on their website, which you can view by clicking HERE. And if that wasn't enough I also won 3 gorgeous little shetland ornaments, but I knew someone would appreciate them more than me so I gave them to Emily!

Christmas came early for me this year on the 12th of December. My wonderful Mum (Lorraine)... I mean Santa, bought me this beautiful buckskin filly foal for Christmas! What more could a girl want?! I have always loved buckskins and now I have one of my very own. She is such a character, the sweetest little thing; I am chuffed to bits with her!

We said goodbye to 2 beautiful filly foals in December, and sent them off to start life in their fabulous new homes! The first was Plumtree Goldilocks, a tiny palomino filly foal, who left on the 8th of December. She was collected by LDD Equine Transport, who we would definitly recommend, and I am sure we will be seeing them again in the future. Goldilocks didn't have far to go to join her new Mum, Anna. Since arriving in her new home she has settled in perfectly, and Anna and Goldilocks have being doing some show practice. We wish you the best of luck with her Anna!

Plumtree Halcyon, our beautiful dun filly, had a little further to go! On the 29th of December she began her long journey up to the Scottish Highlands to join Sheena and Eric at Hjaltland Stud. First she travelled with Adam Gibson Horse Transport, who is a lovely guy and we would highly recommend him, up to Dumfries where she had a little stop over with Sheena & Eric's friend. She then continued her journey and arrived with them all the way up in Tain on New Years day. We are delighted Halcyon has joined their stud. They are absolutely lovely people, who were very welcoming when I visited their stud while on holiday in Scotland last summer, and their ponies are just beautiful. We wish Sheena & Eric the best of luck with this stunning little filly!

We now have just 1 of our 2016 foals left to leave us. She was late born and will be weaned very soon.

Finally, I spent last weekend updating our website. I have cleared the foals page in anticipation of the arrival of our 2017 foals. To see what foals we expect and which stallions we have used please see our FOALS PAGE.

I have also updated the GALLERY with photographs of our 2016 foals as well as some photographs of our mares and stallions.

Last but not least, I have updated the STALLION PAGE. Last Autumn 2 of our homebred boys, Plumtree Hideaway and Plumtree Tokyo, left us to join a stud in Germany. They arrived safe and well and their new owners are keeping in touch, which is lovely! We are expecting a few foals from Hideaway this year.

Well that's us all caught up! We hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and wish you a happy and healthy 2017. I promise I will try not to leave it as long before my next post. The website will be updated once our 2017 foals start to arrive towards the end of April, and for more frequent updates please give our page a like on Facebook by clicking HERE.
